WHAT IS THE ETHOSPHERE?

The Ethosphere is Ethos’ concert and visual arts series. The idea is to bring together artists from different disciplines and styles in a “listening room” environment.

A “listening room” refers to a concert in which the audience is focused on the music, taking in every nuance, every note, every lyrical phrase of the performance. It’s in this sort of environment that people encounter the power and insight of art most meaningfully; when the bond between an artist and audience grows strongest. That sort of connection doesn’t happen every time, but when it does, it can be deeply moving. “Listening room” environments are rare, and both creators and concertgoers have too few of these experiences. And the intrinsic, soul-stirring power of art is too often lost or unappreciated.

The Ethosphere addresses that by creating a “listening room”: uniting great artists with eager audiences. Whether it’s a painter, a singer-songwriter, a sculptor or a jazz quartet, we come together at the Ethosphere to celebrate, experience and interact with the arts. We believe that God, the ultimate Creator, made us in His image to be creative. He has made the arts a powerful and unique vehicle for conveying truth, and it’s because of that (and the fact that we think art is really cool) that we support the arts.

One other note: Some of our featured artists are Christians, some aren’t. The spiritual imperative behind the Ethosphere is our belief that we are called as a church and as Christians to support creativity, exploration, art and artists, and to help develop that support and appreciation throughout our community.
